hi any one know what causes oil to come out of the dipstick and enter the exhaust via the turbo

yep, crankcase breather filter is blocked and requires changing URGENTLY, engine is at serious risk of imminent damage, if it hasn't already happened.
if you do a search on this, it's been covered quite a few times in the freelander section.
filter and housing about £35 and should take about an hour
