Does anybody know anybody that may have fitted a BOV/Wastegate/dumpvalve to a TD4? i'm aware that people are now fitting them to TD's but apparently they are stuipdly loud due to the higher presure.

zero performance increase, its just the granny thing. i just miss my orion turbo.
My blow off valve is a bit loud as well chap i stopped eating baked beans and it cured it.

Yours probably already has a bypass valve valve doesn't it?. Bypass valves release the pressure on the intake side and recircs it back to the inlet side of the turbo and keeps the turbo freewheeling to avoid decellerating the turbo as the pressure builds up and is forced back toward the turbo, this also reduces stress on the turbine shaft. Dump valves are different things, when throttle is shut off the inertia of the turbo keeps it spinning but because the throttle valve is shut the pressurised air cant get into the engine so the excess pressure is vented to atmosphere giving you a psssh noise.

Dont do it mate, when someone hears it they'll look round expecting to see a nissan skyline and they'll see you in a freelander, you'll get the **** ripped out of you.

its a 2003 Freelander van. the fecking thing's cost me nearly 2 grand in as many months with dam injection faults so its now got twin side exiting pipes and thinking the dump valve just to teach it a lesson. one day it was my pride and joy, now i'm hating it with a passion!!!!
Dont spend anymore money on it bud, you wont see the benefit. Use a good fuel treatment to keep your injectors in good shape, try the Morris Lubricant Morrendo DD one leisure marine this will lube them and keep them clean and do the same for the hole fuel and combustion system. The more you tweak it the less reliable it will become, the only way i like to improve performance is through efficiency.

i think we've strayed off point here.
im not after any performance increase in any way, i just want a psssh when easing off. the dam things hacked me off recently so i just want to tinker with it.
riggaz, thanks for your insight on how the turbo works, but i'm alittle confused. i understood what you wrote, but i'm not cleas on something. Will my turbo have either a Dump Valve or a Bypass Valve, or can they have both.
If its the case you can have both would there be any mechanical dissadvantages about fitting an aduible dump valve? ie it would cause stress where stress is not needed?

From factory they usually have like a non audible dump valve which recircs the air so you can replace that with an audible one if you want. Might need to do a bit of research to get the right one

if fitting an audible one, why stop there, you could lower it, paint the drums red and fit white wall tyres
