Recently purchased a Facelift D2 V8i. For the first 100 miles, it's been fine. But now when idling (sitting at the lights) at around 750rpm, it developed a tapping noise from the engine?

Yes, I'm crapping myself!!

Spoke to a generic mechanic, who changed oil and filter.. still tapping?

Praying it's not something hideous?!:doh:

Where abouts from the engine? you need to pop the bonnet and check.

Blown pipe to manifold gasket maybe worse still a slipped liner if u run on LPG.

now that you mention it Discool, mine used to "tick" from the manifold once upon a time, all it required was a quick tighten up and it stopped (I got fed up of slapping gungum on it every other day only for it to come loose when i gave her some)

It's coming from the nearside-side of the engine, I think. Hard to tell and it's bloody cold out there!!
