No, lift off the rocker cover and then you'll need a screwdriver and a 7/16 ring spanner if I remember correctly

not really, rough idea. move the cam so the valve is shut ans the cam is furthest away from the valve, then slide the old feeler gauge in there?

If you call the front ones 1&2 and back 7&8, when front are rocking, adjust back, 3&4 rocking adjust 5&6 etc

ahh youv lost me abit there. i get ther 1&2, 3&4.. ect.. by rocking you mean both valves shut and the cam not touching the tappets? do you mean do a cylinder at a time? sorry if im just being stupid!

the gap is 10 thou you adjust by number nine method 1 front 8 rear when rocker fully down ie 3 adjust 6 4 adjust 5 8 adjust1 etc

still confused! so it is sposed to be 10 or 20 thou??

do i check the clearances when the cylinder is at TDS?

Google rule of nine
Always adds up to 9 so when valve one fully open adjust 9, 4 fully open adjust 5 etc etc.
General rule most engines number 1 valve is the cam chain/belt end
Roughly 4o thou to the millimetre so yes 20thou is 0.5 mm
Sounds like quite a large clearance is that what the manual says?
The trucks i service at work are mainly 0.50mm and thats quite a large gap for a small engine like yours.
you sure its not 0.20mm ie 8ish thou?

Well I went to adjust them today and the timing must be well out sOme how!? When valve 1 was fully open I expected to be able to check valve 8, but it was slightly open?? I think it was valve 6 that way right at the top!? Any ideas?

When valve 8 is fully open (spring fully compressed) check cylinder 1 - clearance should be 0.25mm.

You then do the same for the following valves:
No 6 closed = Check No 3
No 4 = No 5
No 7 = No 2
No 1 = No 8
No 3 = No 6
No 5 = No 4
No 2 = No 7

I did mine yesterday, they were well out and it made quite a difference

Yeh thats dosent work for mine.. Spring fully compressed on number 1 number 8 is still slightly compressed...
