I'm considering swapping the 90 for a lightweight, so was wondering the pros and cons of owning a lightweight. Are they difficult to insure being ex-mod? Are there many common issues to look out for? Parts easy to find? All questions like that really Thanks in advance!

dont touch the 24volt WFR (wired for radio)

from what i was told they are fine BUT NOT 24's **** really they are. chassis rot, crossmembers, bulkheads, ****ing spring mounts, coolant leeks, dont buy one warmed up as that will show relibillity issues LOL, engine mount rot happens too, and the swivel joints, and just look the whole thing over but they are becoming collectibles now and in demand. oh and transfer linkages.

Drive one before you buy one ....

Especially after a 90 .......

Some bits bodywise are a "bit" rare but nowt gripping ....
Nowt to be scared of with the 24v system (providing some mong has been near it with tape and twisted connections,Plugs etc are a bit dearer BUT 24v is a much better system than 12v (a mate of mine had a 24v 109 FFR (fitted for radio) similiar to mine that had been parked up for 12 months and not started ....it started on the key with no charging batteries of jump leads etc ....how many 12v would do that ??? )
Most of the horror stories about 24v electrics seem to eminate from folks that have never had one .
Also try to drive a LWT with the roof off,screen down and the doors off (they just lift off) on a sunny day before you decide .....i challenge you to get the grin off your face

Well mine is on Eblag at the moment.
Cracking vehicle..24v FFR. ( The ignition etc is a standard 12volt system on mine and only dynamo ( burst proof ), lights and the starter motor remain 24v - and what a starter motor it is !! ) Luckily mine had a new chassis and major rebuild 5 years ago and has the benefit of a legally fitted LPG system
Lightweights look cool and don't worry whether it is a 24V or 12V version if maintained properly.
