Hello, I'm doing an engine conversion at the moment. 2.5 n/a out, 200 tdi in. Since my gear box is bad, I also change that for a reconditioned one. Question now is, can I take the engine with gear box still attached to it out in one piece? Or first engine and then gear box. It's a 110 rhd 1984.

Ok, thanks wolf. Will do it piece by piece. read somewhere you can work from the inside out, removing panels to get to the bolts more easy.

It would be easiest removing the gearbox tunnel to give yourself more room to work, i think people have different ways to removing the gearbox but the one ive seen is an engine crane through the drivers door with some webbing straps around the gearbox making sure that its balanced out properly. Dont forget its a heavy bit of kit

Engine out first.
For the gear box, i had the landy on 4 axle stands and used 2 trolley jacks to lower the gear/transferbox. I had a piece of plywood on the floor which i lowered them on to which made it alot easier to slide them out from underneath. Only had to remove the access panel under the drivers seat so i could disconnect the handbrake.
