Hi everyone. I have a freelander 1 and this afternoon the window stopped working, as I was winding it up, and ended up halfway up with the rain pouring!!

I checked the fuse and it was blown. Just in case I inserted another which duly blew as well.

I have taken the door casing off and checked for any water, there wasn't.

I tried to find a way of winding the window up manually and failed. I ended up undoing the bolts that hold the window in and taped the window up to prevent rain pouring in all night.

I have read as many threads as I could but couldn't find anything that related to my problem. I have checked the cables and they are fine, I have checked under the rear wing panel to check the earth is secure - it is - and I have swapped the relays over to see if that was the problem - it wasn't.

There was torrential rain before I used the car and it wound down fine whilst i put stuff into the boot and then it just stopped halfway up.

I hope someone can let me know what the problem may be.

Have you tried disconnecting the motor plug and tried to operate the switch to see if the fuse is still blowing ? You could use this as a diagnostic tool to see whether it's a harness or motor issue/short ?
