Hi, The bottom tailgate on my 2007 Sport is stuck on the latch. I cannot open it nor close it properly. Has anyone had this problem? I can open the top part as per normal. The information panel shows "tailgate open". Any ideas on getting it open?

Solenoid probably jammed

Does it make a noise when you press the release button ?

No it doesn't. Is there a way to get it open fully?

Don't know your car model, but on the P38 it would be possible to remove the door card to get at the mechanism, that would be my angle of attack.

Separate fuse for upper & power tailgate?

Only one fuse but there are two relays for the tailgate.

There should be a manual release under the trim panel.

The sport is similar to the disco 3/4 and they indeed have a method of manual opening (colleagues son has a D3)
