Hi
The interior light and the door open idiot light is always on. Checked all the doors and isolated the tailgate as being the problem. It will lock if I slam it hard. Is there a microswitch in the latch mechanism that controls all? Door handle will open back door and the glass drops ok.
Any help as always appreciated.

The door open sensor is part of the lock assembly. It's just a micro-switch that closes when the door is open. Sometimes the contacts stick closed, so the CCU thinks the door is open, even when it's closed. Sometimes a well placed squirt of WD40 will get it working again.

Presumably if the CCU thought the back door wasn't closed, it wouldn't lift the window to the fully closed position.

I've used ebay latches successfully but as always you take a chance buying from a scrappy.
These things fail depressingly often so replacing it is your best option.

Given it all a soaking with wd. No change except that the glass is occasionally now not moving. Is the micro switch replaceable or do I need a new assembly.

You probably don't need the solenoid part if buying new. If buying used it often comes together.
