DHSE

So my tailgate has gone bad at the bottom (like most), and my bodges have not helped it!!!! :crazy:

I can get a second hand one, that is in fairly good nick for £70.

It may need a tiny bit of work. However, it will need painting as my RR colour is rare (White Gold). I have been quoted £250 for preparation and painting. Sounds high???

That's pretty high for just the tail gate. But then you are having a unusual colour paint applied so maybe it's hard to come by or just expensive. If it's any help I'm having my doors resprayed oxford blue and only being charged £230 for all 4.

dont matter what colour it is. Its called westminster silver your car. I had one same colour. Get some more quotes cos that is dear just for paint.

Westminster silver? So the cans of paint are called White Gold for the Westminster Silver?

I had good results doing my tailgate and rear wings with cans out of Halfords after taking the light guards off.

It's worth a go for £20 and a weekend of your time... if you still need to take it to a paint shop, at least you had a go... you might surprise yourself with the results!

They quoted between £200 and £225 to paint my replacement lower tailgate. Is that reasonable?

Including VAT? You taking the tailgate in to be sprayed with all the bits removed or is it staying on the car? If it's a bare tailgate ready to spray I would say it's on the high side, If they have to strip the bits off with it on the car I would say it's a good price.

I have a replacement, off the car. Needs a little work, but there are no bits to remove (except 4.6 HSE sticker). It includes the VAT.

Spoke to a nice lady, sent some photos of replacement Tailgate (minor corrosion)

They are going to see if they can quote for it.
