dunks

Hi folks,

I know the topic has been covered and then some, however I have followed all the advice on various websites and I'm still sat here scratching my head!!!

The issue I have is the glass won't drop when I pull the handle to open the tailgate.

I have replaced the regulator which was in a right state! So the glass goes up and down with the key and dashboard switch but not with the handle.

I have just replaced the tailgate latch and solenoid, carried out the system check by disconnecting the battery however nothing happened.

I've tried the self test by pushing and holding the fog light, again nothing.

I'm now stuck for ideas and any advice will be appreciate.

Thanks,

Neil

Thanks for the reply, replacing the springs with the kit on ebay was going to be my next plan of attack.

What's really puzzling me is that I'm getting no response when carrying out the CCU recalibration, the glass won't go down when the battery is reconnected and there is no response when I hold the fog light and start/stop the engine.

I think it could be your regulator or a broken wire to the regulator.
Can you open the tailgate window by holding the keyfob button? (I suspect not if the window doesn't drop when the battery is reconnected)
Are you able to measure the inputs to see if they are getting any voltage?
Whereabouts are you?

Hi, thanks for the replies.

I'm happy the new regulator I fitted is working ok, as the one i took out wouldn't budge and was in a right mess. The window goes up and down fine now when using the key in the lock and the dashboard switch.

The tailgate dose open with the handle but as the glass won't drop this is preventing it from
Opening.

Bukko, I'm in North Aberdeenshire. Holding the unlock button on the fob doesn't drop the glass but I can hear clicking from the handle area, I am self teaching when it comes to cars so only get a tool when the need arises so as of yet I have nothing to test the voltage with.

I'm basically working through the check list of problems with the tailgate from the various forums and have just ordered the spring kit off ebay and then I will look at the micro switch kit.

Thanks again,

Neil

Just a quick word of advice...........If you are going to remove the door handle, be careful when you come to remove the 3 nuts that secure it to the door. These nuts are very prone to rusting solid onto the studs which are moulded into the plastic handle and there is a possibility that the studs will come adrift and render the handle scrap
A second hand handle will set you back around £65 and a new one is around £100 + VAT
