While using my td4 at night the other week , I noticed how bad the tail light/reflector on the drivers side is obscured , when the tail gate is left open ! although mentioned in the hand book I never gave it any thought until saw how bad the effect was in total darkness , so I got a series 2 reflector for £3 50 , pulled the bolt off the back, and fixed the reflector in place with a good sticky pad , it does work , I now feel a bit safer leaving the tail gate open in the dark !

I also added one to the inside edge, (Left on your picture)
as the door is open in the car-park with cars approaching from the passenger side,
in theory they should see you but a little extra help never hurts..

the L-series doesn't have it,
I plan to fit Golf Mk4 puddle lights on both doors so maybe I'll fit one to the tailgate to.

I too am thinking about some reflective strips around the door. I have also noticed the rear wheel getting in the way of the lights. Found that out when I picked up a wardrobe and it had to hang out the back of the car on a dark night. Bit naughty really as you couldn't clearly see the number plate or one if the lights. It did make me think though

if you have something hanging out of the back ,and you have a tow bar on put a trailer board on the end of what is hanging out this will help .it is like those people who have bikes on the back and they cover everything like lights and number plate ,they should have a trailer board on , by law

Yeah should have done. Light board was 15 miles away and the wardrobe was 1 mile away so I thought I'd risk it.
