The head gasket on our Freeland has blown and it is going to cost more than the vehicle is worth to replace it. How do I syphon the tank so I don't waste half a tank of petrol when I scrap it?

Why scrap it? It's worth more than scrap value to someone to fix and use ;)

Quick n dirty.....drill or punch a hole in the bottom of the tank. Have a couple of suitable containers ready.

If it has its existing fuel pump, take the exit pipe off the pump and route it into a container and apply 12v straight to the pump.
Otherwise, you need to find an old fuel pump, connect it to a battery and to the fuel line in the engine bay so it draws the fuel out. Could turn into a hassle to get the pump primed so it draws the fuel up.

However.....scrap value will get you at best £150 or so. Stick it on ebay, 99p start and no reserve with an honest ad and lots of clear photos. You will get a couple of hundred quid.

Don't drill it its dangerous !

Remove lift rear seats take out fuel pump get a clear hose and a contaner lower than the tank suck to you can just see the fuel put your thumb over the end lower into container hey presto
