Hi
I have to replace the swivel seals on my early 90.
we are doing this at a friends house shortly but when we looked at the axle it seemed like it was an early type with heavy duty hubs on.
My mate says get original LR Seals, which i am happy to do, but he also says there are 2 thicknesses of Swivel seal and without taking them out he is not sure which i have fitted. Obviously not wanting to get the wrong one and be stuck up at his house on the day i was going to buy one of each and either return unused for refund or credit.
Problem is my local LR Dealer looked at me like i was talking Swahili when i said about the two thicknesses.!!!
Can anyone shed any light on this subject?

Cheers
Kev

you can just fit the standard britpart seals thats all i have ever fitted, But if its a bitsa who knows, I only ever replace like for like parts im safety concious

Hi
That's obviously what i would like as well, changing bit for bit ....but!

Bit of a catch 22 unless someone has come across this before with the seals.

I would rather prefer to have one of each type in hand to do the work (and either return unused for refund or credit), than end up in bits and the wrong one in hand!!

Cheers for the input, all welcomed.

it goes one step further when u look at the steel plates that cover the seals...
you need to work out if you have a 20 series axle or a 60 series axle as the plates are completely different, easiest way to tell is the 20 series axles have a bump on the seal plate, the 60 series axles do not...
