Ok guys a little help please
i have a 10 splinde front axle, now i know the axle tube is the same as a 24 splinde, but can i take the swivel hub housing and swivel off the 10 sp and put a 24sp into it or are early and late swivel hub housings different ?
the 24 sp i want to use is off a Disco 1
Any ideas
 
As far as I remember as long as you use ALL the swivel assembly then they will interchange , outer ends are differant I think thats the issue , so use it complete .
 
No 10 sp axle is off a v8 110 and 24sp is disco 1
what im doing is ive had the 10sp tube shotblasted and ive stripped and cleaned swivel hub housings to paint,and the idea was that when i rebuild my 110 td5 i was going to take the 24sp shaft out and put them in the clean and repainted 10sp housings and use the swivels too as they are very clean. and yes i have a disco 1 front axle on the td5 now
 
your 10 spline axle tube wont fit on a td5 unless you swap radius arms for thinner def pre 94 ones ,apart from that you need to swap the 4 most center diff studs other than that wheel stations can be swapped complete,on pahard rod bracket there is an 8mm hole,which face is it on
 
Ive measured the bracket on the tube and its the same as the disco one.
The 4 most center diff studs??? do you mean the studs on the tube, they are longer/shorter ?.
Not sure about the panhard rod bracket without looking and its dark now!!! what should i be looking for ? when i look tomorrow ?
 
the radius arm brackets are the same width on 10 spline axle case as later td5 one ?must have been changed at one time then,on panhard bracket you have 2 holes for bolt and one 8mm ish one for case identification if original pre 94,have a look tomorrow and let me know

axle tubes are all the same apart from radius arm brackets and whether they have roll bar brakets cvs are longer on 10 spline than 24 as are the stub axles etc ,chrome balls only differ in top pin/bush or bearing
 
James i know you mentioned it but have noticed today that it hasnt got anti roll bar brackets:eek: so no good:mad: after having it shot blasted and i epoxy painted it and top coated it:( so will have to wait till i swap mine onto the galvo chassis ive just had done and use the disco one !!!
