Just took delivery of my new cross drilled input gear from Ashcrofts. I bought it on the recommendation of it being a cheap(ish) temporary solution for giving a bit more life to my worn mainshaft.
Because of this, I have decided to reuse the bearings off the old shaft as they looked OK and the overhaul manual states that they can be swapped onto a new gear.
My question is, will I be able to swap the bearings over without having a proper bearing puller or press? Some Google searches have come up with a tiny bit of mixed info, some saying you can just lever them off carefully, other people recommending chisels.
What about putting them back onto the new gear?
Any other tips regarding this? Thanks.
