Sooooo

I bought myself a secondhand superwinch husky.

Fitted it today, and I'm having a problem.

The winch will run in one direction, but if I try and make it run in the other the solenoid makes a squeaking nose and the motor doesn't turn. Its trying though, there is HUGE current draw on the battery.

I thought maybe the motor is jammed, but if it goes one way, why does it not go the other???

Any ideas??

Thanks

Steve!!!

Yes it was. so sounds like bushes are stuck down and jamming the armature they end up wedge shaped and won't spin the motor backwards

if you can get some brushes for it, thats only about 10 minutes more of a job once youve got it out anyway.

speak to superwinch, maybe a service kit would be a worthy investment?

If anyones interested I got to the bottom of this today.

The wiring diagram that came with the winch was wrong.
The winch has had a non standard motor fitted and I wasn't aware.
After speaking to the very helpful David Bowyer at Goodwinch I sent him a photo of the motor and he sent me back the correct wiring diagram that showed I had the A and F1 connections mixed!!!

Swapped them over and all is good, apart from the RR now having a flat battery!!!
