Ok folks, picking up the disco tomorrow, neither sunroof is working but neither are leaking, mother in law wants them working.

When the switch is pressed you hear the electrical click (single not constant) but nothing happens so is this likely to be a relay or could both motor units be dead?

There's a few other niggly bits but thankfully nothing serious and it's a daily runner so most things are just cosmetics like missing plastic housings on passenger seatbelt sockets etc

Good thinking Batman, hadn't thought to check although he did say the front one was working up until about 2 weeks before yesterday.

I'll have a look and a poke and see what's what, worst case she'll have to live without lol

I had same problem, what I did was disconnected motors and checked for electrical signal to them, it is obviously a forward and reverse voltage. If you have something going to them that is good, it means your ecu is working.
Take the motors off, 3 screws I think.
They will probably have had water in them, you can get them apart, the inside will be gunked up, may well have water in them. test them without bolting back first with cables...

It rained tonight so I got my torch out... they are not glued and there is a small amount of moisture coming in, however I have made it clear that they are a common leak point and we don't really need them functioning which she has agreed to. :)

Other than that she is a stunner! None of the usual rot-spots are showing heavy rot, she has the usual loose switches and cosmetic bits but the exterior is almost dent/scratch free and purrs like a kitten for a diesel :)

Tomorrow gotta go to the breakers are one of the headlight clip sockets has broken and the rear split seat is missing a fixing bolt and that is about all for the moment ^^
Going to see how much our local will charge for complete rubber seals replacement.
