Last month I dropped into 4wd to tackle the icy snowed roads on the estate.
Worked great but then when I went into low and then into 2wd the lever wouldn't go forward.
After some swearing and fiddling got the lever forward but only by holding the yellow lever down so stuck in 4wd.
Luckily I've got fwh's all disengaged them and have finally today got round to looking at the problem.
I thought the problem must be with one of the selector shafts so I took you the drivers floor and removed the two selector levers.
Then took off the dust cap by removing the three bolts securing it.
Straight away I could see the selector shaft that engages the dog gear to give drive to the front prop was covered in dry dirt and going rusty., and when I moved the selector lever back and forth it didn't budge
I sanded it down with a sanding pad and cleaned it up then pushing the red lever forward I tapped the top shaft back into the box and from here I could rotate the front prop by hand freely. (Engage a gear and transmission brake off)
Pulled the lever back and front prop locked up.
plenty of oil and working the lever back and forth got everything working great again.
