Hi,

I have a fault that has developed on my 2006 Freelander TD4 and am looking for ideas what is causing it.

When the engine is warm, at tickover the engine burns oil (blue smoke) and is a bit lumpy. When the car is driven the blue smoke stops and the car runs like a dream. Fuel consumption is same as ever.

Any ideas?

Try changing your filters, take the air filter out and see what its like then to test it..

Not to forget the all important crankcase breather filter.

You should fit the BMW upgrade part if you haven't already

Would suggest your PCV filter needs changing, do a search and fit the BMW mod.
As 2.0 Hippo above post clashed.
