After viewing all the threads on this topic and Doing all the following- Oil & filter change, fuel Filter change, sedimentor removal & clean out, Blanked off EGR cleaned all crap out of pipework, power check to Glow plugs, battery is as good as new & starter motor seems fine etc etc.

My 300tdi still hates starting in the cold, once going starts on the turn every time after that. This morning it nearly went on the turn but no it just kept turning until it eventually went after about 2 mins.

I bought it about 2 months ago & it was fine then but its steadily got worse

I'm now getting brassed off to the point of falling out of love with Arnie, is there anything else I need to check/do?

the fact that you've got power to yer glow plugs dunt mean that they're working proper.
whip em out and connect them across a battery - the tip should glow red hot almost straight away.
 
Mine now much better after starter rebuild. Try will a jump from another running car - does starter turn faster than normal? New glow plugs also helped a while back
 
Have you checked for an air leak on the fuel supply? The fuel could be seeping back to the tank!!
 
I would check the glows - if even one is out I would then change the set.

To check it you need to get live to the top of it and neutral to the body of the plug, don't hold it when you power it up as if it works it will get incandescent

OR

If you have a meter you can check to see how many amps each one is drawing which should be about 4-6amps.
 
Cheap n cheerful solution until the weather gets warmer is Millers Oils Diesel Sport plus4 cetane booster. £12 for 1/2 litre from Halfrauds, but treats 500 litres of Diesel. I've got a couple of glow plugs out on me 200 TDi, still starts on first cough with this stuff in the tank.

Amazing!!!! tried this stuff & OMG it works, tried all kinds of stuff before and its been crap but this stuff does exactly wot it says, 1st time starting & of all things filled up to the brim with fuel and have done 120 miles so far and nowhere near the 3/4 limit on the fuel gauge, incredible!!

Snake Oil!
 
Fook orf. This stuff does work as it says. My daily fuel bill has gone down to about £11 a day going to work an back and it starts first time every time with knackered glow plugs. Smells fookin awful when you spill it on yer hands mind...
 
Charles and Take 5's statements are in total agreement.

this stuff is clearly 100% pure snake oil made from many deceased slithery things.Hence -
- it works
- It reeks

You hands should stop smelling soon - when they drop off!
