I need to remove the steering wheel off my 90.... due to having to replace the indicator switch:mad:.

I've removed steering wheels in the past with no trouble, but this bugger won't budge!

I tried some thin lube on it.. but no joy.

It's not a standard wheel, but on off those smaller jobbys.

I'm thinking of threatening it with a big hammer, but would rather a more diplomatic approach.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

loosen the nut till it's flush with the end of the shaft, then **** it with a big hammer.

Standard rist immediate action stuck steering wheel.

Get one pound (weight that is, not £1 from Aldi) hammer, and a hard copper drift that will fit easily through the wheel nut

Place the nut on the steering column about 1 or 2mm clear of reaching the wheel.

Sit with your knees jammed hard under the steering wheel straining it up.
Or getr someone else to do this bit.

Now, with maximum UP strain on the wheel, and the copper drift held firmly down on the top of the column inside the nut, belt the end of the drift a sore one as fast as possible with the one pound hammer.

The idea is to shock the column down a tiny bit to open the taper joint.

Bigger hammer will damage things. Use a small hammer very fast.

Should do it.

If not, cry.

Use copper grease when refitting
