Hi been searching around and not found the answer to my question. Any help appreciated.

What should the clearance be between the tyre and radius arm when adjusting the steering lock stops?

Do you adjust so that they almost rub or is there a set proper distance?

Want to improve the turning circle if I can.

Cheers

Ian

Just before the tyres touch, or they could even JUST touch, as that wouldn't be enough for them to actually make a loud noise. Some MOTers are funny about them some don't even care.

On the workshop manual, it says at least 20mm but the way I do it is as little as possible and if I see any signs that they are being rubbed by the wheels, adjust them out a fraction then.

It makes a huge difference to drive-abilty of a Defender if they are screwed in after being out alot beforehand.

My 110 was totally transformed when I screwed mine all the way in. Had to screw them back out a tiny little bit when I got new radius arms though with them being abit thicker than the standard ones though.

Just enough clearance to give you maximum turning capability. If they dont rub then they are fine. If they do then they aint.
