here is where it hits, along this edge and more so on the welding part

this bit is 15mm wide, while not sure if this is mega wide, its causing me issues fitting it in!!

dimension: 6mm sheet plate, 8mm on arms, while the widest bit of arm is 15mm as previously pointed out.

Any suggestions, is it simply not going to fit, or can i grind it down? or should i swap it, buy another etc. I got this from a salvage yard for about £50 bucks and thought be great as a solid bit of kit, but well....

p.s I didnt try and fit it while my rope was there :)

I look forward to hearing from you

I tried with a mallet, as thats all I had to hand. its about 2 mm tho, would that be to much for it to be stuffed in there? I guess I might have be nervous due to the new bumper.... but I did give it a good bash and just felt to wide, as said.

haha I love Dwain dibley!

hmmm.. what about using a trolley jak to force it in there? but will it bend and damage my bumper arm and thus cause integral damage under heavy load, as ill be winching etc

just checked some bottle jack out on machine mart. ok there are rather a few!!! any ideas? or are there better places to buy such kit?

jacking apart the chasis sounds bad, but you have done this before? can I use the bottle jack to help with the changing of springs. bushes for rear wheel dampers etc.

hey guys so what bottle jack would I need? there are diff tonn weights and lenghs. best get a 20 tonn one? cos they range from 1.5 -20 from what I have seen. just want to fit my steering guard, which is slightly to wide, by about 2mm.

I wouldn't jack the chassis apart, even for2mm ... I'd take it apart and widen/slot the holes that the side arms bolt to .. ;)

hey paul, but it wont fit in between the chasis and the bumper. The thickness where the connection joint is to wide, by bout 1-2mm, so wont fit :-(

Sirus I take it you didnt have any problems with integrity then? was ya about 1-2 mm out like me? or more. Will I need to get a cutting disk? or what exactly to do it, I saw a bloody lot of options when I was in machine mart other day.

I only just got me grinder, and has a flap disc and knoted wire brush cup, but thats it so still learning what need for certain jobs etc.

No Problems at all.... same problem. I had a winch bumper and it was very thick. I took a knotch out of the winch tray and took some off the steering guard so it fitted inside the bumper if you understand what I mean.:D:D

yeah I think I get ya matey. Not sure I have to take any of the winch tray out, but hard to say I guess as I didnt get it to sit in its true position!.

sirus some pics of your set up under there would be really good, can you pop some over?
