Hi All,

Its MOT time and I have a fair amount of play in the steering box (advised at last MOT) but I'm used to it, you know how it is.......

However, I have got a Disco 4 bolt box in stock and I was wondering if any of you would know if it is a straightforward replacement for the earlier 3 bolt type. I'm thinking about the bolts through the chassis, the connection to the column and the connections to the pump,

Appreciate any advice / experience you may be able to share.

Cheers

As has been said it is the hose connections into the box that are different. You could get a hydralic hose place to change the ends on your hoses for you or get the pump and hoses that suit the 4 bolt box.

Try tightening up your steering box first.

Thanks to all who replied. Sounds like the attachment to the chassis and the steering shaft are not an issue.

I have the whole set: box, hydraulic pipes and pump so at least I know I won't be stuck if the MOT guy doesn't like the play this time.

I did adjust the existing box last year and got rid of the play. Trouble was the "brown trouser" moment when I went round the first corner and the steering wheel didn't self centre:doh:

Cheers

Chris
