Right i have had this issue for the past month and it only does it now and again.i try to start the car and i just get a click turn it off and on a couple of times and it starts. possible sticking starter? But when it does turn over it doesnt sound like its struggling. well tonight i couldnt get it to turn over at all and now im not even getting the coil light on the dash any ideas?

Solenoid contacts in the starter motor? It seems to be a common problem and there are kits available to repair them on Fleabay for about a tenner. It was the first repair job I ever attempted myself on the Disco and it was actually quite straight forward to do. The contacts were shot, hardly anything left on them and the job took about an hour to do, baring in mind I didn't know what I was doing. Try a search on here as there's quite a few thread that mention it.

try sticking a jump lead from your battery neg to a point on your engine and then try turning it over. if that fixes it, then bad earth.

I have a td5 disco 02 auto and am at my wits end with it, I've had it for 15 months and it has been brilliant I love it!
About 3-4 months ago it started to play up, it would occasionally click (starter solenoid) and not start, after another attempt or 2 off it would go and it would drive without fault.
Over time this became more frequent until eventually it wouldn't start at all, just clicked,
I changed the battery and unaware of the kits I've read so much about on here since, I bought a new starter motor off fleabay, might be worth noting it was a pattern part.
Changed it over and it started! Reversed it off the ramps, turned it off, put ramps away got it car........Click!!!! Won't ****** start!
Called an auto electrician out this morning he tried all sort, direct feeds to starter, osb diagnostics, tested xyz switch the works, diagnosis....
Everything electrical works fine, he thinks the gearbox might be seized or have a mechanical fault preventing the flywheel from turning?!?
I am just at my wits end now. I want my landy back!ncan anybody please please please help??

Get the hammer out and give the starter a tap or two . Even better if ya got someone to turn key while you do . If nothing take starter off and test off car . Just to rule out your new starter is duff or not
