Can anyone tell me if you can replace the solenoid on the Bosche 5009 starter?
It has UN19-10 sticker on the it when you take it off the starter motor.
I can only find info on earlier models but not this one.
Its on my 1997 disco deasesal, which is now stuck!
Or will a TD5 starter be ok to put on as thay are the only one's i can get locally today from the breakers?
Any advise would be gladly received ( and before someone says get rid of it, i still need to get it started!)

Hi, just a word of warning, I replaced the starter solenoid on my 98 300TDI, the new item fitted ok and worked fine, that is until the engine got hot, then the car would not start. After much investigation I found that the new solenoid was getting hot and the center push rod was jamming in the barrel. Lesson is that although they may fit, they may not do the job! Sorry I can not give part numbers.

Managed to get hold of a second hand one that I'm picking up tonight, will keep trying to sort out the old one!
