What condition is the battery in? Is it new? The starter could be a little seized and the the engine could be all gunked up after being sitting. The starter may well be shot. How are all the other electrics? Do the lights dim running off the battery. I'd try a new battery or see if you can jump start it. Is that possible to do.
Can you give us more info? How long sitting etc?
Sounds typical of a vehicle that has been sitting all this time.

I had the very same problem tried jump leads from another car still nothing hitting the starter motor, nothing so I took the battery off let it charge over night and started first turn of the key not bad seeing as it had been sat for 8 months
