Yup, this is a starter on it's way out. The click is the solenoid activating, but there is a dicky contact so the motor doesn't spin. A decent independent should be able to fit a recon one for next to nothing.
As an aside, when you have a dicky solenoid as well, and the two faults sync perfectly you can have fun watching the solenoid oscillate rapidly with the starter occasionally spinning![]()
Last couple of days, when trying to start my landy, the key turns and all i get is a click, then off, click, off, click, off, then start.
Is this typical starter motor probs?
