My 1999 4.6 P.38 cuts out in the same place whilst driving up a hill to home, but starts again after 10 seconds also when the engine is warm it cuts out at low speeds and whilst driving around islands, any ideas very welcomed. I have been told that the fuel filter on this model is located in the tank but have not been able to find it.
cheers.

how much fuel is in it when this is happening? i would suggest you have a look at the fuel pickup pipe in the tank, lean the back seats over and you should see an access panel to the pump and assembly.

if not that, and with it cutting out when warm i would be checking for loose/bare wires around the engine!!

Hi Gavbriggs,

There is always plenty of fuel in the tank, I thought it may have been a air mas meter problem, and I was hoping someone had also had this problem. I did not want to disconnect the meter for fear of putting up faults on the display unit.

This is a P38 and the access to the pump is either a tank out, or cutting a hole behind the rear driver seat to gain access.

I will check out your suggestion for loose wires, many thanks again.

unless the meter is dead then unplugging it wont make a difference, i dont think, i know mine wont run if the meter isnt connected, i dont think it will do any harm tho!!
