Just a thought, if it's like the P38, there are 2 bulbs for the SRS in the dash, if one bulb fails the other will light I think.

Hi, guys i have just become a member! i was searching this problem today, i did nothing to make the srs light come on. i did however leave the bonnet up for about 4 hours in the snow the other day im wondering if that did it? but i was interested in what the light was doing, there seems to be 2 bulbs inside. One is constantly lit and the other seems to be blinking its not easy to see but it is happening, im confused at what that means! Can i hook a diagnostics to it and find out? So yeah that's my problem just one day it can on and is partially blinking at me!

:welcome2:

What model and year??

If yours has seat side airbags and/or seat belt tensioners...the most common issue is the yellow wiring harness under the seat plays up....

Diagnostics should tell you why the lamp is on, and depending on what the fault is...can only be reset using diagnostics.

Put your location in your profile, there maybe a helpful member local to you who has the gear to hook it up to for you, for the price of tea and posh biscuits!

Hi again, mine is a 1994 Soft Dash Classic. I have been told by a few people that if i let the battery get low for a long period it can play with the SRS, so i was then wondering where and what type of plug is used for the diagnostics, a mechanic friend of mine doesn't think he will have it. I have started to tart up my profile and I'm in the Portsmouth area if anyone can help! Thanks Guys.

Just staying with that thought for a second, in the P38 you get beeps and a warning message in the dash when the SRS fails. Not so in the Classic? Data do you know if only lamp lit but no other messages is the way the car tells you that its specifically a bulb failure?

I never got beeps on mine when the side airbag connections were playing up, just the SRS light. Don't know if it beeps if one bulb has failed, might tell you in RAVE, but there are beeps for so many things haw would you know it's indicating a duff SRS bulb?.

That's my point, I wouldn't. Normally if it beeps it also displays a message and you gotta go to diagnostics. Just wondered if it had a different way of signaling that its only a bulb failure. Never mind, ignore me! :p

Well, there is no display on the classics, but there seems to be 2 bulbs one is constant and the other is almost flashing.... not sure what that means either! Oh yeah no beeps either.

Had this fault last year on mine after I left it for M,O.T. Took it to another garage to diagnose, came up as low voltage fault so reset it f.o.c (nice man) but it came on again before I'd got half a mile away.I bought a used srs ecu from a breaker and swapped it but had to take it to the nice man to reset the light, anyhow that has remained good for 14 months until last week when I stupidly left my ignition on while I was away for 5 days so now looking for another srs ecu.I now realise that the cause of this in the first place was the m.o.t. garage who must have done the same thing but didn't have the right plug to turn the light off
