recently i have been hearing a sqeeling noise from (i think) the front left side, it has been most noticeable when on bumpy off road and going round corners but this may be because the engine is'nt so loud at these times.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be and how i can find out?

how would i check/remove this, would it have done any damage?

take the wheel off and look behind the brake disc and shield, poke out with a screwdriver, shouldnt cause any damage
