Looking to change the spring front and rear on my Disco1 ! Not had a really good look at them but they have probably not been changed for many year. Springs are obviously on the list to buy but without looking at it and assuming the worst what else do I need to buy when replacing them?
I'm thinking towers/turrets ? Front shocks whilst I'm at it! Rear already done as they were falling off! What else do I need to seriously consider replacing?
Any suggestions great fully accepted.

Simply because my old man will only have done what was suggested to him and for piece of mind as I intend to do some off road stuff! Last thing I need is to bust a spring in the middle of nowhere! I'm only gona go with standard length no lift!

Turrets will probably be ok but well worth getting a pair of turret rings for the front. Rear spring seats can be a bit crusty as well and are cheap to change, get a kit with new bolts etc. Dropping the ARBs helps when changing springs so have a look at the bushes/drop links etc as well.

I fitted HD police spec RRC springs to mine which lifted it about an inch but I think that's because the old springs were sagging. Don't be surprised if yours is the same and standard springs actually lift it slightly. If you're going off road or doing some lanes then a slight lift is going to help.

Once you start looking for stuff that might need changing the list can become endless so be careful and as Discool says, your springs etc might actually be ok. I like new shiny bits as much as the next person but they never stay that way for very long!!

Cheers Richard for the info! Ill take a look at all you mentioned! I'm sure they may have been on the vehicle from new and may never have been changed!
I'm keen to avoid a lift other than to standard height as I know it can have knock on!
Mate will be fitting them at his garage so I don't kill myself.
New and shiny I like but piece of mind I like even better!
I intend to keep her till I can afford an upgrade so will be doing a few bits to here and there to bring her back to life!

I put HD springs on mine ..... If there is no weight in the back it makes for a harsh ride on uneven ground
