Does anyone know how fast the 4.0 with a GEMS motor can actually go? I normally drive on crummy roads so rarely get over 40 but recently on a private stretch of tarmac I tried to stretch her legs and she struggled to hit 90! That can't be right can it? I hadn't the impression there was anything wrong before this, engine is generally smooth and compliant and I don't think it's a worn clutch, it's not like she revs but doesn't move, she just runs out of steam. :(

Should touch a ton .... ton+11 is the book figure for the 4.0 - 120 for the 4.6

over time this will drop but should nudge a ton atleast unless tired.

My diesel will do 90 with ease never had it over that though. (This was of course on a private road). ;);):D:D

After replacing the cats tonight on my 4.0 GEMS I went to a private road and managed to get it to 90+ with ease on an uphill section. Before that I struggled to get above 70.

So I would guess something is wrong with yours.

Yep, my old diesel will just about make 90 on the autoroute, had it up to 80 with the caravan:eek:

On my very own private stretch of motorway, I had my diesel up to approx 90, I didn't like it, felt too big to be doing that speed

Funnily enough , just the other day I was trying to explain a mate of mine why I don't like to drive past 90mph on the P38. Looks like I'm not alone :)

My 4.6 thor charges past a ton with little effort on just over half throttle. It feels like it would do its official top speed easily with some spare.

Had my last Classic VM at 95 passing Valencia on the motorway with a 1800 kg twin axle tin hut on the back, Now that was scarey . My P38 (chipped) will easily do 90,will try to take it to the limit tomorrow. Look out for traffic problems on the M56.:)

My 95 4.6 was taken offroad permanently last year but it reguarly saw 110
and my currant diesel regularly sees 90 once saw 100 granted with a slight down hill

had mine up to 100 cruising nicely, but soon realised fuel consumption was an issue, also mine has an issue between 65-70 where it sometimes jerks a bit. get it past 70 and its fine. even when i lift off again. only seems to doi it when i first get on motorway. any ideas?

I wonder what it could be? As mentioned I've no other symptoms or else I've gotten used to them so much I can't tell.

knew a guy once that struggled to get past 80 up a hill where he stayed .Thats not bad i thought till i herd he stayed at 96 .........
