VIN decoder says 1990 MY not 1994. depicted by one of the "L"s in there.
I have seen a 200Tdi with an EGR, if you look at any 200Tdi manifold you will see the oval shape in the casting for one. I do believe they were fitted to some export models but not for the home market.

Could this have been an ex-Japan car? That would explain the EGR vale and the much more recent registration date.
On the V5C does it say on the first page "First registered elsewhere, first reg in the UK bla bla bla?

The VIN says 1990, so what has it done for 12yrs under LR roofs???

It's called 'age related registration' .

It is still wrong unless it has had a VIN change too as the enlarged "L" indicates it to be 1990, 1990 is G/H reg.
Where the 1994 comes from is quite intriguing!
