Software, I have a disk for the EAS, I know it work, because Saint put it on his laptop, I have been given a laptop, ad loaded according to the instructions, but when I open it into windows explorer, it looks like its encrypted, so I think its the laptop, is there a way to fined out and turn off encryption if it is that? thanks

Can you take a picture with your phone and put it up?

I think if you right-click the drive in Windows Explorer it will tell you if encryption is turned on. Windows 7 has it built in but I cannot remember the name they use. Bitlock, maybe?

Jpg 3 is the one

I right clicked like you say, I got a window up, looked in advanced, another window pops up, (advanced attributes) and the 2 coxes are not ticked, (compress contents & Encrypt contents)

Weird. I don't think it is encrypted.

It thinks it is a Word document but encoding is different to what it was expecting and it cannot open it. What program are you using to open it? Might be a later version of Word than on your computer?

If you scan up or down the text from the top is there any normal text at all that might give away what type of document it is?

Could try copying it to your computer and then changing the file extension to .pdf or maybe .docx and seeing if it opens with that.

Can you e-mail it?

I assume that is Datatek's airbag replacement guide? Might be easier to get him to e-mail a copy!

Yea its his, the disk I know is fine as I said, its the laptop, somethings been changed, it says in the instructions to load adobe V4 but thats no longer available, I might load the next one up??

I think Adobe 4 is installed when you install RAVE?

Think Adobe Reader is up to XI now!

If it is a pdf and it is trying to open it in Word then that would do it.

What are you trying to open Dopey? that's one of my discs, nothing is encrypted.
The EAS software requires windows net framework 2.1 or above which you can download free of charge from the Microsoft site.
RAVE comes with it's own embedded copy of adobe reader which you have to use, it does not affect any other version of Adobe you may have on your computer.
The airbag Replacement Guide is a Word document.

Got it running ok now, just need to try and put it on the hard drive... hate learning these things!! thanks for the help... may need more with the hard drive, I want to do it without using more software though

Just use Windows Explorer to copy the CD to the C drive.:)

looks like you are trying to open a .doc file in wordpad.....(XP version of wordpad I don't think can open the later.doc files) you'll need either Open Office (free), a file convertor or Microsoft office.

Word pad will not open the Airbag guide as it has embedded photo's, Open Office works fine. Microsoft are a PITA, I no longer use Word, Open Office is better IMO.
