In need of some new sockets, I had a decent set, but lost one or 2 over the years, and a couple have had to be binned as they have split, the bars and rachet are still ok, so just need the sockets.

Anyone used the Clarke Pro ones from machine mart, or any other sensibly priced but usable suggestions.

Can't go wrong with halfords pro lifetime guarantee reasonable prices too. Broke a strongbar from there took it back changed it no questions asked :D

did a search, and their kits came up a bit, I'll call into halfrauds see what they have.

what's the common sizes needed for a fender? just to make sure they're on the set.
Its the 12, 14 & 16 that are fooked from me main set. (19s not so far behind)

Keep an eye on their website, they tend to rotate loads of stuff doing it for half price pretty regularly;);)

As above, 12pt is a must for calliper bolts. The majority of my sockets are 6 point wall drive, I find they round rusty bolts less often.

I much prefer hex sockets where poss,
bi hex, presumably there is somthing with a 13mm bi hex on it then?
Think I have one already anyway... bi hex are good for hammering on to said rounded nuts I find

might have one actually, I know I bought a bloody big socket a few years ago for the same job. (failing that, see if the one the old man had for the S3 fits)

Halfords sell individual socket too. so you could just replace the missing ones.

could do, but they're all getting a bit worn tbh, the sets about 30 y/o my dad bought it for his 2A many moons ago, I was about 2 then , still on its original ratchet though!

My old Kemasa socket set is still going strong(ish) and that dates back to 1974. Most of the chrome has peeled off and the ratchet is a bit bent it still works though.

Its been largely superseded with other gear now but its still something of a prized possession, I don't know if Kemasa still exist but I do remember a few years ago the name was used on some pretty poor quality gear. I wonder if they would still honor the lifetime guarantee? I think they were one of the first to offer it.

yep ive got a set of the deep ones on 3/8 drive 10mm - 19mm used obused hammered ****ted used them as drifts and just cant knacker them

ive also done the same with a rail of the same size from torq ( the new range they have in B&Q ) wich are a little more costly but put up verry well with the same sort of abuse

Not read all the posts but Halfords Professional tools carry a lifetime guarantee. If you are friends with a mechanic you can use their trade card. Serious discount on trade card. Clarke tools are okay but tend to be cheap 'n cheerful.

best set I ever got was a 6 sided 1/2 inch set for landys think they were king dick or summat but they have taken serious abuse. Halfords not bad and you do need some bihex esp 13mm for caliper bolts etc
