What would you recommend

Birthday monday and going to treat myself to a snorkel.

Safari Snorkel, Mushroom top snorkel - ABS Snorkel - £69quid £99quid £150quid

Surely they all do the same job do i need to be spending top dollar on them. Its a 1985 2.5NA 90 - its used as a green laner/offroader as my toy! So i dont want to spend mega money then rip if off with a tree.

Any ideas folks on what would be that better idea?

my 200 tdi 90 came with a safari one, i left it as it is and its fine, and works too which is a bonus.
i guess they all do the same job at the end of the day

South down snorkel?? This is new to me. DIY snorkel I have not a clue were to start
Do you have a link or idea on where I can find info?

Also I looked at you tubes etc on connecting and says connect directly to the air filter but surely the air filter would let water in?

Southdown all the way, ther IMO the best looking aswell

I have markings etc in my side wing so would like it to go side of the wing do Southdown do such a thing though as I can't see it

Has to be southdown as well! Spent ages looking at snorkels and finally decided on Southdown. Expensive but much better quality and will not rot. If your worried about ripping it off while laning they stick out much less than conventional snorkels so less chance.

Only thing I didn't like about southdown one is that using the standard fitting instructions the snorkel is miles away from the windscreen. Great if you have/want a roll cage but awful if you don't. Always intended to spray mine black anyway so just spent a bit of time measuring up and altered the bracket so the snorkel is now much closer.

It's all about which you think looks better as they all do a very similar job, personally I prefer the shape of a Safari, also because I got mine off a 90 we got off a mate for free :D

Guys one thing i need to ask about it all though and if i cant find the answer will ring a company. But before i do im hoping someone here with experiance can shed light on it.

Anyway the question is - once the snorkel enters through the wing what happens? I assume its a simple pipe connection to the airfilter but i cant see how the hell its water tight if thats the case. Is there an internal kit i need to also buy or am i looking into it to much and its that simple. I know the bottom drain hole should be sealed but what about the actual unit itself?

safari connects to existing pipe work from air filter box, which on my td5 defender is a plastic box that i seal with sealant after air filter change, not had any probs with it and been in a few deep water situations

so any standard water sealant would do the job then. That makes sense i assume its something that isnt going to bond so that you can remove things but yet good enough to stop and leaks
