I am looking to have a snorkel fitted to my 110 but am a mechanical retard when it comes to well anything mechanical actually. I have asked my local independant Landy workshop for a price to fit one including a wading kit and they have quoted me £175 + vat:eek: Whilst I appreciate that this is their livelihood and they probably have mouths to feed, I cannot afford to shell out £210 on top of the purchase price for the snorkel & WK as I also have mouths to feed. Can anyone recommend someone in the West sussex/Surrey area that could fit this for me cheaper than have been quoted? I would have a go at fitting it myself but drilling into my pride & joy scares the sh!t out of me.

Any suggestions warmly welcomed.

seriously m8 it aint too hard just mark and double check your marks before drilling and follow the instructions

if ya wernt so far away i would help ya do it

Cheers for the vote of confidence, I think I might have to attempt it, I really want it sorted before the Plains trip so I can have a go at everything without fear of f**king anything up. I think I will ask The V8 Man for a hand.

Listen to WLM and just take yer time.........if you are unsure then you can always post some pics up on here asking ''Does this look right'' before you drill or cut.

Someone put some pics up of cutting and fitting a snork the other day but don't remember where twas

Yes they are quite easy to fit. Its a bit cramped connecting the pipes inside but take your time and its easy to do.

Its an easy job, I did mine a few weeks ago. Just a case of doing some bolts up! Seriously my 10 year old lad did some of it as he loves to help out. The wading kit is also easy to fit. You might even enjoy it.

I'm fairly confident that I can do the bolting together stuff, it's the drilling into the window pillars that worries me. Also with the wading kit, I am sure that it will not be a difficult job, once I know where exactly I am supposed to be fitting the extended pipes. I try not to spend too much time underneath cars, I usually leave that to the pedestrians that dont get out of my way quick enough:)

If I bodge the drilling I suppose I could always try and make it look like bullet holes, the kids will love that.

Well I've been quite productive over the past few days and have managed to fit my snorkel, steering guard & front light guards, I haven't got round to doing the wading kits yet.

The snorkel was fairly easy, though I did run into a few problem when drilling the holes in the pillar. Unfortunately I trusted the measurements given in the destructions and this meant that when drilling the last hole, it was directly inline with a re-enforced part of the pillar. Unfortunately I didn't notice this until after I had attempted drilling. So I have only one bolt holding the upper bracket of the snorkel snorkel, I will just have to live with this

The steering guard was easy, albeit a little tricky by myself, a trolley jack would have been useful but I muddled through. It looks good and will hopefully do what it says on the tin.

The light guards should have been easy but the people at Rebel4x4 sent the wrong fittings:frown: I ended up using allen key type bolts on the P Clips at the bottom of the guard and self tappingn screws on the top. I would ideally have liked to use a rivnut on the top but didnt have the tool to do so nor the budget to go out and buy one for setting just four rivnuts. I will make do like this for now but will look to change to something a bit more secure as soon as the opportunity arises as I don't want some scrote nicking them.

Next rest days, the wading kit.
