Been looking around and searching google and the forum. Does anyone have a DIY detail on how to make a DIY snorkel also when connecting it does it go straight to te air filter or do you by pass it or fit one elsewhere? As the existing one I don't feel will be overly water tight

Also homemade vs brought - what would you recommend

Cheers in advance

Snorkel connects to intake on filter housing, unsure but I have heard of plugging up drain on underside of filter box (usually lets water/moisture out) to prevent it getting in if deep wading, use lots of silicone sealant. One way to test a snorkel is to cover intake with a plastic bag, engine should get sluggish and die if the snorkel is (considered) leak-proof.

You can fabricate yourself one out of drainpipe or buy a Safari/Mantec/InsertMakeHere snorkel, depends on what you want. Home made may do job but might look a bit odd and be hard to fix on well, but proper ones can be pricey. I have a Safari Snorkel on my 90, I like it, some prefer a less bulky model.
