Discovery 1 and i was putting on a new bumper i had to remove the old steering guard. Anyway turns out the bolt on the left hand side at the back that holds the steering guard was stuck. long story short got the nut off then the bolt wouldnt come out i then managed to snap the fixed nut off the other end (wheel side) what im asking is, if i nip that up tight with the bolt will it be ok to drive on? Also how about laning? Is it a bolt thats extremely important?

Its the bolt on the left
 
rear bolt on drivers side is rhs not lhs ,bolt goes through panhard rod bracket and box support i presume so would need replacing it stops axle moving sideways, if not through that bracket wouldnt matter
 
So i need to get the ####er out then to replace as the bolt head as snapped off meaning that its not stuck in there good and solid!! What size is that bolt mate is it a M10 x 150mm?

if it goes through the panhard support bracket ,i cant see detail the pic
 
thats the bolt fella the Left hand side head has snapped off not a clue how im getting that out! What im saying as its well and truely stuck in there will it be ok to drive on?

it may well be possible to drive but i wouldnt risk it ,that bracket holds front of car in lateral alignment with axle ,and its not 10mm if heads 19mm or 3/4 its 1/2 inch google bh608461
 
get some heat around it and put the nut back on the other side if it doesn't try and pull the bolt out it will atleast try and turn it, if it shears off or strips it doesn't matter you need to get it out anyways one long punch lots of heat and a good heavy hammer
 
Well update on bolt! It's out

Oil / plus gas etc didn't work
Heating with blow torch and banging like mad didn't work
Loosening surrounding bolts didn't work
Drove on it etc didn't even budge

Last resort it was then after a 6 mile drive yet still didn't budge it went in to a friends workshop and had to use a oxy to heat it up enough to get the thing out it would never have happened with a blow torch
But finally it's out so if it's that stubborn then use a oxy
