Still lots to do and Landy is our main drive but have a long off road trip in France / Spain coming up in September so will be a few additions for prepping as well as general fixing and preventative stuff

Finally got carpet / extra sound proofing material and heavy duty matting to silence the beast!.....hopefully!
Just dropped in heavy duty rubber mat (£25) from Bath & West show and already a difference.
With big trip looming we are starting to do some more jobs, Mrs Smiley has made some wooden door panels that will be covered in the new carpet and have door pockets added to keep stuff handy.
She also made a fab cover that drops over the high lift jack thats strapped inside to hide from prying eyes.

Hi Flat, Mrs Smiley has cut the boards, these are 12mm external Ply and slot in under the door uppers.
Will then retain with small neat plates that make removal simple if needed.
They have been sealed with a varnish just for extra preservation and will be carpeted.
They will then be fitted with door pockets / netting.
She is even looking at making the netting!
Once we have more pics / step by step will post them, stupid work has delayed the progress!
Reckon they will look great though

Well its time to stop putting it off, we have all the bits so today started to strip out the dash.
Mrs Smiley is working well on this door panels (pics to follow Vsoon) and we have all the carpet / soundproofing materials.
Need to weld in new floor panels, existing ones have been patched so as a matter of course I want to cut old out, weld new in and gain access to the inner bulkhead, both to sound proof and to sort the corrosion.
So heres pics of the stripped dash.

Further in I got, more I wanted to strip it out.
The instrument housing is tatty and want to check / add extra wiring in for the CB Radio and other bits so thought may as well go right in!
Now thinking about replacing the fuse panels as these ones are a pain as its hard to get the fuses other than Halfords hold some at gold plated prices.

And heres the main reason for the strip!
Reckon this was down to continuous leaks through the bodge "sealed" windscreen clamp bolts that I replaced the gaskets on recently.
Leaks shouldnt be ignored they will do damage and the old 110 is now just about water tight!!
Anyways look at the pic, thats why leaks need fixing!

Had to remove all the dash, and have also removed the heater box as the pigging thing started leaking again!
Have to say after stripping, its not my previous repair thats leaking, it seems the matrix has given up, its only a tiny drip but now the 110 is water tight every drip shows!
Getting the windscreen clamp out the way and the dash means I can now cut out the corrosion, paint and treat the inner surfaces and weld in new sections.
Mostly the inner bulkhead is good as is the outer.

Also stripped the heater housing and repainted it.
I had previously drilled out the rivets and tapped and re-secured using stainless steel M3 screws, happy days!! it meant that it came apart easily and can simply be reassembled when the new matrix turns up.
I will also replace the neoprene seals as these were totally crumbling.
While apart thought I would make a new switch panel out of some ally I had as the old one (with the hazards on) was hanging apart.

The main dash has been repainted and am looking to add same carpet as the door cards (being made by Mrs Smiley) just a bit of extra sound cushioning.
Will also at this stage sort brackets for the CB radio and wire in the variable speed control for the fan as the resistor set up is knacked.
As the dash is all out I can get to all the wiring so will fit new modern fuse carriers as the MOD ones are a pain to get correct fuses for.

Heres a few pics of the basic stages of the door cards being made.
They are not finished yet but lovely wife is putting some serious thought into them!
Originally just wanted some sound proofing additions, but then she thought we need somewhere for the flask of tea, water bottles and other stuff!
First pics, doors as is, then basic card made from 12mm exterior ply.
These will be carpeted.
