Hi all my disco 300tdi seems a bit tight.... its had a new lift pump new filters runs on shell v-power derv ect.. drove my friends r reg disco last night and it seemed so much quicker and it reved up real quick but i noticed his was higher on the rev counter than mine at say 50mph. mine is a p plate commercial his is a r reg 5 door.. im lost mine sounds noiser than his too???? help please ....
 
yea thats a good point thanks... What about the difference in noise??? i didnt mention that my 300 has had new pistons and shells not sure when tho just before i got car and i had to put a new head on the thing too but this was a performance head so really i shouldnt be slow should i?
 
When did it last have a service? it could be a the fuel filter or sedimenter is blocked restricting fuel flow.
Do you have an egr valve or is it blanked up? How about your mate? If the egr valve is removed and blanked up you get better performance and fuel economy.
Is your intercooler blocked? are your turbo hoses in good order. Restricted airflow will also slow you down.
 
serviced it myself all filters changed sedimenter clean blocked egr myself hoses and intercooler ok.. dun lift pump only thing left to do is cam belt... im lost lol

Why don't you try advancing the pump timing, there's a usefull thread on here where it's quite detailed and it should help yer probs, hopefully.
 
check your lift pump inlet and outlet pipes are doin wot they are meant to as i have recently fitted a new lift pump to mine and the pipes had bin changed on the pump (manufacturer)

had same problem:mad: was it a britpart pump by any chance?
only way i worked it out was coz the fuel gauge was goin up not down:eek:
 
yea lift pump is fine new fitted had fun testing what pipe did what lol...(not bit part thank god) was thinking of advancing timing after i changed cam belt also moding the pump and turbo but wanted to get to the bottom of this before i modded but hey ho maybe im expecting too much power he he ... thanks for your advice guys... if i can ever be of any help to any one in a electrical way just ask its me job
