I've got some welding to do on the sills on my disco. I also want to permanently remove the plastic cover as we all know they are notorious at collecting dirt and moisture.

Now I wondered if anyone has any ideas on how to "improve" my sills resillency. I thought about patching the corroded areas and then getting some angle steel and welding it on the length of the sill. Can I get weld on rock sliders that will cover the sills and protect them for future? Or is there a purpose made product I can bolt or weld over the existing sills that will stop me having to replace them any time in the next few years!

Answers on a postcard please! :)

Cut the buggers off completely and replace with 50x100x3mm steel box section.

Not particularly (Ask DAFT) A lot depends what you find when you strip the interior trim out to start the job off.

We had most of the interior out when I got the floor patched a couple years ago so it shouldn't be too bad....well at least I hope not. It's worth considering that as a solution. MOT's not till October and he didn't see the massive hole last year (thanks to the silly sill covers - hid it nicely!) but I'd rather do my welding outside in summer than leaving it till winter like I do every year! haha

If I had some room in the disco to put it I would But have got a stack of ammo boxes and go to north Wales for a set of tyres & still get all me tools to get in the back of the bloody thing Oh and two sets of ladders on the roof bars.
