My lovely wife decided to buy me a couple of runners off fleabay for my birthday (not because she struggles to get in and so really a present for her, honest). They are rusty as anything, and the checker plate needs cleaning, but worst of all she managed to get them without the fittings.

I've looked at loads of pictures and they look like the same fittings as the Bearmach steps, but I can't find anyone who just sells the fittings without the steps. Even Land Rover Workshop just has the step as a part, not the fittings.

Hopefully the picture I am about to attach will work. I'm looking for the plates that cover off the large hole in the outrigger and the brackets for the front.

******Edit* looking at mine again. Maybe I don't need the bracket at the front, although I'm not sure what will stop the step trying to swing in. ******

I know you skilled pros will suggest I knock them up myself, but having never used a welder or cutter in my life, not sure I'd be able to.

Anyone got any ideas? Or even got any knocking round their workshop that they have stripped off?

Thanks in advance.

Put up a picture of what yours look like. Why would you want to block up the hole in the rear outrigger surely then it would fill up with she-ite and rot. My jackable sill inserts into the rear outrigger and bolts to the front one

Sorry, I didn't mean the hole in the end of the outrigger. But in the first pic I posted above, there is a blanking plate that covers off the hole in the upright.

Looks like it just needs nuts and bolts. Have you offered it up to see where and how it fits?

Yes. The fronts are easy, they use the bolt that secures the bulkhead. In the fitting instructions I posted above there is a horizontal bracket, but now I've had another look at mine, I can't see where this would go, so I'll try without.

The rears will attach as per the fitting instructions above, but they need the steel blanking plate to cover the hole in the upright of the outrigger.

Are you referring to the square brass coloured plate with the captive nut?
If you are just use a large thick washer instead.

Ok. Now I feel really stupid. That will do the trick!! I'll just have to see how the front sits, but sure I can bodge something.

Now I just need to strip them and get them cleaned up and painted. Oh well, if the Mrs wants a step ilk be doing it in the kitchen if this weather keeps up.

Thanks everyone.

Nah! with the length of them surely you're going to need to clean them up in the bath ;)
