Hello, I have side steps on my 1993 disco 200tdi. I was thinking of getting rid of them completely, or replacing them with rock/tree sliders for a bit more protection when off road. They seem to trap quite a bit of mud, which im worried about for obvious rust problems!

If I was to swap for rock sliders, would I need to do any drilling/extra work? or is it a case of just swapping them over? I'm not that technically minded, what do ppl think?

Any ideas appreciated

have the sills got the plastic covers on still ????
if they have you might be to late to save the sills !!

They trap water, mud etc. between them & outer sill, which then rust's away. Chance's are if you remove the trim's you'll find some welding to do on the sill's.

yep, I have these black strips-along the bottom of the doors right? I'm not sure of the rust situ under them, but having another look today the sills don't look too bad. I think I'll have a try at removing the steps this weekend, then see what's what.
