I have been looking at getting rid of my disco 300 to upgrade to something else. I now have the opportunity to do a straight swap with a 96 p38 4.6. So should I do it and if yes what problems if I find should I just walk away from it. There is a poll for it so lets see what you say.

look out for slipped liners on the v8 engine,very common fault.check air suspension is working correctly and check the airbags are not on their way out.in fact check every bloody thing on it as it WILL go wrong.

So basically do the same as with a disco and check everything. What are theses like for rust are they as bad as every other landy out there???

they are much more likely to go wrong.there are so many electrical things on them,it can be a nightmare getting them fixed.but not impossible.if i was you i would venture into the range rover section and have a good read in there.dont forget to doff your cap and call everyone sir or your majesty.

How will I notice slipped liners what symptoms or noises will it make?????

you will be loosing coolant like first symptoms of head gasket
