Can anyone tell me if and where i can get a conversion kit to fit a mitsubishi shogun 2.5d turbo intercooler engine into a1985 90 landy.Reason being it currently runs a n/a 2.5 diesel and its a bit slugish and i am not gunna get much money back on the shogun and the engine is a real gem.. no oil leaks no smoke no taps no need to top oil up.... will it fit???

If it fits under the bonnet then it can be made to fit the gearbox - might be difficult to find a 'ready made' bell housing or conversion plate, all depends on how much money you're prepared to spend I suppose.

A better bet might be to flog the shogun, or the shogun engine and throw th rest away and use the proceeds to buy a 200/300 tdi engine.

Cheers,

the shogun is on ebay now and i would be happy with £600 but i am not sure it will do that, but if it does then £600 should get me a 200 tdi i reckon. What exactly will i need to buy to make it fit if its a disco 200 tdi ive been hearing conflicting advise off a few landy buffs i know...Cheers.

Buy a complete disco that you can test drive, pref with a good mechanics. Transfer the whole lot, engine, box, rad, cooler etc into your 90 which will give you upped ratio gearing for better MPG and drivability.

You will need the exhaust down pipe conversion from Steve Parker Conversions or make it yourself if you can master a Mig welder.

you cant use the disco gearbox , cos its got a longer bellhousing and the gear sticks are in the wrong place ..

transfer box fits no problem just needs the linkage rods swapping from your 90 onto the disco box, makes a big difference on the road but no change in gearing in low ratio.

My error....
Should have stated to use the 90 box. Have seen a disco box used but its not neat, and everything gets moved around to make it fit.

Ive got 4 vehicles already so a full disco is QUOTE Wifey "out of the bloody question" ive seen engines on ebay before and i suppose there will be another unless someone out there is interested in a disco with no engine , rad, intercooler :D . The local friendly nieghbourhood landy expert has told me it would be £1000 ish all in,supply and fit 200tdi but i have never used a garage before and im not about to start now..thanks for advise so far. off to billing tommorow evening..big smiles..

i will have a complete 200tdi engine ready to fit , in a couple of weeks ,with all you need apart from hoses and downpipe its out of my motor so i know it's a good un ....pm me if your interested , i may be able to sort it sooner ..
