I've ordered new nuts and shackle pins for the front of my 1969 2A.

The new shackle pins match the old ones, but the nuts are smaller and do not fit.

I ordered the nuts by part number, 251324. My parts book says 'self-locking nut (1/2")', like the item description here:

Were these fixings beefed up at some point in the late 2A years? I had a similar problem with some swivel hub fixings and had to use the series 3 part number to get the right size parts...

I'd probably just take the new pin to a nut & bolt shop and match up what you need. Must cost a fortune buying that sort of thing by part number.

They're pence each, but the postage is a slag I'll give you that.

I'm struggling to think of a "nut and bolt" shop.. I can't see homebase, b&q, machinemart etc. having this kind of thing.

Screwfix is the closest I can think of.. but it all appears to be metric:
