would you recommend servicing a RR myself? i.e. plugs/leads/oil etc?

what to buy/avoid etc?

tips/hints...?

cheers :D

yeah its easy, just like any other car really, buy the best you can afford as obviously theres more of everything, 8 plugs, 8 leads, 6.5 ltr of oil!!

do one plug and lead at a time!!! thats my ultimate tip!!! trust me i have cocked it up before!!!!!

how can you **** it up...? just so i dont lol

any brands to avoid or any you highly recommend?

what about air/oil filter etc?

is it lpg?
if so i have heard good reports about the lpg plugs ngk do, but the gap on ordinaries need to be set at about .75mm for lpg or standard its .9 i think.

oil air pollen filters are pretty much run of the mill, again you get what you pay for,

also when you remove the oil filter, above is the oil pressure switch, if this has and oil around it you might aswell replace it, about £10, its a cow to get at but it will leak eventually and a new one will save you the hassle of getting under there again, if its 27mm its original if its 22ish its a new one so shouldnt leak!!

plug leads, get the magnecor type and the bigger 9mm ones are best in my opinion, standard is 7 or8 mm i think.

dont forget to do water aswell, maybe an idea to get a chemical treatment so it will flush easier and more effectively.

oil, i cant remember the spec of it but again whatever the best you can afford, £40 a gallon might seem expensive but the engine is worth about 2k so whats £40????

it is really as simple as a fiesta to service but there is more of it!!!!

GAP...?

thanks for the tip about the pressure switch ill deffo change that while im there.

can you elaborate on the water thing...?

i understand about the oil and yes ill be paying a decent price, dont want the engine going lol

very many thanks for the reply mate, wont be doing the service immediately but soon enough.

gap = spark plug gap use a feeler guage for this.

water = coolant make sure you change the coolant too, correct propertions of water and antifreeze. also when filling take off the small pipe from the radiator and it should pour out when full, replace and top up!! run engine and top up again. keep an eye on the water tho as these engines easily airlock. you can buy treatments to flush the system proir to emptying, helps get all the crap out, i always empty from the thermostat housing but be careful its plastic and water will cover you if your not carefull!!!
